Liquid De-Icers are now used for both anti-icing and de-icing. Significant cost reduction in material and labor along with increased safety and melting performance drives the rapid growth of this emerging technology. In the days gone by, the plan of action was to wait and then react after Mother Nature has descended upon us. Snowfall was allowed to accumulate and then the expensive and arduous process of clean up and removal began - sometimes taking days to complete.

Thankfully things change and in this case definitely for the better! Liquid de-icers provide strategically effective techniques to proactively manage winter storms and reduce winter operating costs! Statistics show improved safety and significant reduction in overall costs can be enjoyed when liquid de-icers are properly implemented as one of the tools for winter storm management.

Today the advent of powerful and environmentally friendly liquid de-icers like Caliber M1000 and Caliber M2000 have effected change for the better. Crews can now readily plan a proactive attack before the storm arrives, with liquid anti-icing treatments. Anti-icing significantly reduces the effort (read cost) needed to keep roads and parking areas clear. Anti-icing effectiveness is further improved when Caliber is blended into the liquid de-icer. Caliber acts to "supercharge" the liquid de-icer. Caliber not only causes the liquid de-icer to melt longer, but to melt at lower temperatures as well. As an added benefit Caliber reduces corrosion to your equipment, to concrete and our infrastructure as well. Caliber enhanced liquid de-icers exhibit more melting and staying power than the competition.

ENHANCED ANTI-ICING & DE-ICING at a LOWER COST

Specially enhanced liquid de-icers like Caliber M2000 can be used for another distinct advantage. When they are added to salt stockpiles as a pre-wetting agent the performance of plain old rock salt is catapulted into the realm of a high performance de-icer. By pre-wetting salt stockpiles with a liquid that stays in the stockpile, crews achieve a more workable and flowing inventory that handles and stores well over the summer. Pre-wetted rock salt also sticks better when broadcast from application vehicles, reducing losses from bounce and scatter by as much as 40%. In addition, pre-wetted rock salt melts ice and snow at lower temperatures and stays out there working longer. Both public and commercial users report reductions of 25% to 40% salt tonnage as a result of extra melting power and reduced bounce and scatter obtained from pre-wetting at their stockpile! Once again the cost reduction more than pays for the pre-wetting process providing a net savings.

Caliber users have learned that liquid de-icers have minimized their total operating costs in several ways. First, by reducing the amount of chemical needed for melting and removing hazardous winter snow and ice. Second, associated costs like driver/operator overtime and wear and tear on equipment is reduced because fewer trips and repeat applications are needed. Third, cleanup in the spring is a breeze because there is nothing to sweep up. Fourth, delicate landscaping, trees, shrubs and turf are left intact and do not nned to be replaced every spring. Fifth, expensive floors, marble, brick, terrazzo, carpet or whatever are not adversely effected. Caliber has no abrasives elements common to other de-icers and replacement, cleanup or repair becomes virtually non existent. Many of our customers have indicated their reduced floor care costs single handedly paid for the swith over to liquid de-icers! Not a bad trade off.... what are you waiting for?
