GILSONITE & GSB ARE SAFE
Gilsonite has excellent health and safety characteristics. In fact, Gilsonite products are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in resinous and polymeric coatings that come into direct contact with food. Gilsonite falls under Section 175.300 (formerly Section 121.2514) of the FDA regulations, Part 3, subpart (iv), which lists Gilsonite as one of several approved natural resins. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY TESTED
GSB products are not only safe for workers and the public at large, but have been thoroughly tested by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and given a clean bill of health. (US EPA Report on GSB) GSB-88 was tested against an asphalt overlay in a "Life-Cycle Assessment"; and the results are very compelling indeed. In fact, lead EPA researcher Rita Schenck, Phd. said that GSB was one of the cleanest (processes) they have seen! Many factors were measured including the impact on global warming, emissions into the atmosphere, and the resources expended to install each process. The nasty PAHs found in coal tar seal coatings were not found in GSB eliminating the worry of toxic watershed runoff. When all aspects were assessed, GSB came out smelling like a rose. Take it from the experts, Gilsonite and GSB products are both environmentally and economically sound investments.
